Overview

Pho Kim Long is a well-established Vietnamese pho restaurant located at 60 Alfrieda St, St Albans, VIC. This spot is favored by both locals and visitors seeking authentic Vietnamese flavors in a casual, unpretentious setting. Known for its strong broth and generous portions, Pho Kim Long offers a variety of traditional dishes beyond the iconic pho, appealing to a broad audience craving comfort food with a Vietnamese twist.

The highlight here is unquestionably the No 7 Special Beef Noodle Soup. The broth stands out with a rich, layered flavor that's both savory and fragrant. The thinly sliced raw beef, beef balls, tripe, tendon, and brisket create a delicate texture contrast and showcase skilled preparation. While some diners note the portions to be slightly leaner compared to other pho spots, the flavor depth compensates well, making each bowl satisfying and warming.

Aside from pho, the menu includes standout items such as pork spring rolls that are crisp and flavorful, and rice dishes like BBQ chicken with tomato rice or BBQ pork chop with steamed rice, which add variety for those seeking more than noodle soups. The addition of fresh bean shoots, pickled onions, and a good selection of condiments enhances the dining experience, allowing diners to tailor each dish to their preference.

The restaurant itself is compact but efficiently laid out, maintaining a comfortable flow even during busy periods. Staff are known for their friendly and attentive service, with quick turnaround times and a welcoming atmosphere. This makes Pho Kim Long a practical choice for a casual lunch or dinner, especially for families and pho enthusiasts who appreciate authentic, no-fuss Vietnamese cuisine.

Overall, Pho Kim Long captures the essence of traditional pho while offering a diverse menu that stretches into other beloved Vietnamese staples. Its location in St Albans makes it accessible for those coming from Melbourne’s western suburbs or beyond. Whether you are after a hearty bowl of beef noodle soup or a satisfying rice dish punctuated by crispy spring rolls, Pho Kim Long delivers a consistent and enjoyable experience that keeps customers returning.

Update: Same menu, new pricing. Ordered the Special Beef Noodle Soup again. This time, the dish had more toppings than the last visit and no fatty brisket pieces. The meats were still very thinly sliced. Broth is still good. Now there is a small container of pickled onions at each table, rather than having to ask for it previously. Last Visit: Long way to travel for Pho. We were told that this was the bees knees of Pho. Ordered 2x Special Beef Noodle Soup(Pho). Yes, the broth is good, it has good “body” and depth of flavour - the pho is good but the pho we have had in Richmond is good enough without the distance plus also like 15-20% more in quantity and quality is good enough. Admittedly - the broth here did have more “body”. The raw beef, beef balls, tripe, tendon, brisket were sliced thinly versus chunks and thickly sliced at other places. Might look like a lot - described as generous by other reviewers but in fact, the overall dish is about 15-20% less in quantity with toppings and noodles - same price. Also, the brisket was a little fatty. Service was friendly and quick. If you like pickled onions with your Pho - you’ll have to ask for it. Not offered unless requested.

Amazing Pho and its in St Albans, easy to access area just off the freeway. The pho itself is jam packed, I mean really good portion size plus they give bean shoots and chilli. The condiments and sauces are plenty, for a tiny shop it's actually spacious and always busy. Best part it's a pho restaurant that also has has sides and meat with rice dishes. Loved it

Nice food for the price you pay. My meal didn't really taste like there were much effort put in when making it. To me it taste like it was missing something and it looked a little boring. I had broken rice and egg. You can't really go wrong with that dish in any viet restaurant. But hey it might of been me that day.

- My goto pho restaurant here. The best side pickled onions. - Service is always spot on, with a happy face. - Fast service. - I also needed to use the bathroom one time without buying food and the lovely staff let me in without hesitation unlike DHP around the corner. Thank you!

The best Pho I have tasted for a long time since the famous Pho Dzung on Victoria Street, Richmond was at its peak in the 80s. The classic clear broth with intense flavours and the beef brisket is so tender. It's a must try for pho lovers.

The Pho soup seemed much better this time round compared to all the other times I have been year a year ago. The Special Beef Pho was as good as one expects from such a popular noodle with generous servings of meat and noodles. The prices on the wall only reflect the small bowl and I wasn't aware so you need to ask for a larger size if you want something bigger. The floors could be cleaned more often as there were napkins all over the place and some tables were not cleared straight away.
